My name is Deborah Shearer, and I am the owner of DRP Consulting. I am interested in helping YOU get a better handle on your business.

Since every business has its own unique dynamics, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for everything. If you want a system or procedure to be effective, it must be able to be followed within your own business model. This is where I come in. Whether you are a one-person operation needing to keep your records up-to-date, or a small business owner who can’t seem to get the reporting you need in order to see where your business is going, I can help you get the appropriate systems in place to allow you to focus on what YOU do best.

Over the course of twenty-five plus years (in Alberta, BC and California) I have gained considerable experience in managing all financial and administrative functions for a variety of small businesses. I have held responsibility for functions that typically fall under the accountant/controller role (such as human resources, contracts, bank & insurance relationships), and also for some functions that typically do not (such as conference planning and maintaining website content).

I enjoy working with business owners and prefer to focus internally on streamlining accounting and business processes rather than external accounting and tax engagements. By maintaining this focus, I have been able to deliver cost savings to businesses through such activities as:

  • Reviewing business processes and setting up procedures in order to gain more effective control over transactions.
  • Setting up tailored reporting to provide business owners information in a meaningful format in order to assist with management of the business.
  • Managing accounting (and related) departments in the role of a part-time controller.
  • Preparing year-end schedules for external financial statement preparation.
